$$ Rail Traffic Remains At Highest Levels of Year

Most recent results are out…
Railtraffic was essentially flat last week 690k cars vs 692 previous week making the last two weeks the strongest of the year and continuing to raise the 4week average to the highest levels of the year.
We are at the time of year where rail traffic historically flattens and then declines in mid October through the rest of the year. What we will be watching this year clearly is the size of the decline. Going back to strong years of 2006-’07 & ’09 (we’ll omit ’08 because everything fell off a cliff at the end of the year and it would skew the #’s for comparison) the end of year decline has been in the 8%- 12% range (this is the monthly average, not weekly).
Gonna say here people expecting a huge decline will be disappointed..
