Rail Traffic Sitting Comfortably Above ’11 Levels

Total N. American rail traffic came in at 665k cars last week. Interesting was auto, which is now back to near the 2011 high levels (which would be 3 yr. highs) and has rebounded unusually hard from the Holiday lows.

The level itself remains elevated over 2011 showing more growth.

Of the carriers, ($NSC, $KSU, $BNI, $UNP, $CSX) all posted increases while $KSU’s was in % terms the largest.

Here is the chart.
