This is getting interesting. The louder the chorus grows from different organizations to open up this litigation, the harder it gets to keep it a secret. Now that the NYT has made this request, one should fully expect other news organization to do the same. The government will of course object which will then lead to a media feeding frenzy of conjecture and speculation. “Why are they refusing to release?” “What are they hiding?” “What did they say?” .
We can then expect the media, who up until this point have been wholly negligent in their coverage of this to begin searching for answers from anyone and everyone who worked at the GSE’s/Treasury/FHFA at that time. There is nothing they love more than a conspiracy case……
