Saturday "Shock and Outrage"

As regular readers know, weekends are for whatever. Whether it be humor, video, politics, whatever…

Here is today’s:

Immediately after Dr. Tiller was gunned down President Obama said:

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.

3.5 days after the killing of an Army recruiter and the wounding of another President Obama said:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

For the record, I think both murders were heinous and I am shocked and outraged by both acts, I just wonder why our President isn’t…..

really todd? you are attacking his choice of words? Come on have more class than that.

Exactly, You said you were shocked and outraged and was wondering why our President isn't…. well in the Dr. Tiller's murder President Obama said, "I am SHOCKED AND OUTRAGED by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as…" This is one post where your criticism has no merit.

I am neither Republican or Democratic but I do believe Obama is one of the few people who can govern this current enviroment with sense.

let me get this straight…just because obama didn't use the word heinous in both statements you don't think he thought both were senseless?

if he had used the word heinous in both statements you probably would have said he was using generic statements without any feeling.

todd you dropped the ball on this one.

in a world as complex as our own …….you wish to deconstruct his words and attempt to find flaws. just….no

when talking about the president and what they feel, ALL we have is their choice of words. they cannot create legislation, cannot rule on a court case, etc.

the only clue we have as to the importance of any event is the words used to address whether it is this event, taxes, isreal/iran, GM etc..

to sit here and say O is such a great speaker and his words are inspiring and then ignore what he says or criticize someone for looking at is is hypocritiacal folks.

change the situation:

your neighbors kid is beat up at school one day I am at your door immediately talking about it saying i am shocked and outraged and it was a heinous act.

next day your kid is beat up. you tell me about it and i say nothing for three days then stopped by to and say essentially, "thats a bummer".

are you really going to tell me you'll imply nothing from the stark difference in my reaction….???

come on..

patel,

read the post again….. i was talking about the dramatic difference to his reactions

He seeks to influence where he's at the center of the controversy, like abortion, and wants to influence (pro). His more passive comment ("sadness") is expected and disappointing given his passive stance on the world stage vs our enemies.

Frankly, we have both words and actions to tell us where he stands. "W" had trouble with the language, but I knew where he stood…"O" has tremendous command of his words, and yet I'm left wondering…that scares me.
